President's Report

We have a great year lined up for you.  The monthly programs are all out on the website.  Registration is open for the two upcoming Professional Development Days.  Each one is worth 7 PDUs for attending.  

• A member favorite, Gale Mote of Gale Mote Associates will be presenting on,  Thrive not Survive and Critical Thinking Skills for Project Leaders.  This is on April 10th
  
  
• In June we are binging in a National speaker and PMI Registered Education Provider,  Lou Kerestesy to present on Effective Negotiation Techiques.  This will be on June 15th.
  
  
• There is an opportunity to help a doctoral student with their project management research.  The survey responses are due by March 20th if you wish to participate.
  
  
• Board members will be reaching out to members who have offered to volunteer. Some of these areas are short-term, one event, or assisting a Vice President.  
  
  
• In Addition, we have elected volunteer positions open   It is the easiest way to earn PDUs and attend the Professional Days for free.  There is opportunity to attend the Region 2 Meetings and this year's North American Leadership Meeting and Global Congress in Chicago in 2017.

Community Service

Dear members of PMI Chapter, 

My name is Paulo Andrade, and I am a Ph.D. Student at the University of Regina (Regina, SK, Canada) in the Computer Science Department. Me and my supervisor, Dr. Samira Sadaoui, are doing research in the IT Project Management field, and we would like to know if your chapter can help us.

 Through this research, we will investigate how is going the IT Project Management field in the world. From past data, we know that less than 60% of the IT projects are completed with success (on budget and on time). The main idea here is to collect new data from different companies and analyze what they do to succeed or to fail in an IT projects. With this data, it will be possible to suggest a new approach that can help companies get a higher success rate. The participation is voluntary, and all responses will be anonymous. There is a link for another form at the end of our survey where the participant can inform an email to receive the research results. This study was approved by the University of Regina "Research Ethics Board".

 We would like to know if your chapter can spread this research with your members (using your formal communications methods). In this way, we all could collaborate in the growing of the project management discipline and the creation of new knowledge.
